  • Welcome…

Hi and welcome to my new blogsite! Yes, it’s a little bit of blog and a little bit of website all in one. It is a place where I share my photography and snippets of my family life with you – you’ll see lots of photos of my favourite little boy on here! It is also where you will see some sneak-peeks from my sessions with clients.

I am based in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I love photographing everyone from mums-to-be, babies, children and families, both in the studio and on location.

I am currently developing my professional portfolio of images in all areas, so if you would like any further information, or would like to book a session, please fill in the ‘Contact’ form above.

In the meantime, sit back, relax, read, and have a look through the portrait galleries. Also, I’d love you to leave a comment - it's always great to see you've popped in!

Central Otago

Hi everyone, well we are not too long back from a wonderfully relaxing week down in Central Otago at my parent’s place.  It is easily my favourite place in New Zealand and we are lucky enough to spend most of our holidays down there.  It is just one of those places where you go and do nothing but relax!  The days just roll from one to the other, and life moves at this pace where nothing seems to bother you.

So we spent our week doing pretty much just that, with a few bike rides and trips to the park thrown in.  As I feared, the camera didn’t quite come out as much as I’d hoped, but we did head into the “Shaky Bridge” in Alexandra one day.  I’ve been thinking about this as a great location for photos for a while now, so was really looking forward to getting some shots there.  The “Shaky Bridge”, aptly named, was build in 1879 (since restored), and is set amongst some gorgeous Central Otago scenery.  It was an incredibly overcast this day, but Hayden had lots of fun running across the bridge and playing on the rocks and hills, and his probably what seemed to be his favourite – throwing stones into the river!

So here are a few photos of our little boy in action!

Pam - Looks like a magical location. I love the bottom shot, beautiful.

Lollipop, lollipop…

So, what’s the best way to keep a 3 year old still in one place?  Yes, food!  I have been wanting to get a new series of studio shots of Hayden for a while now; something fun and different that we hadn’t done before.  He’s well aware of all my tricks of the trade now, and usually about two photos is our limit these days – he’s well gone and I’m still itching to keep shooting!   So I thought I’d try the sweet approach and went on the hunt for a giant lollipop.  Surprisingly it was harder to find one than I thought it would be, but I eventually managed to find one at a specialist lolly shop.  It wasn’t quite the bright colours I’d hoped for, but decided we might as well go for it anyway.

The verdict – Hayden was pretty impressed with “the biggest lollipop I have ever seen!”, and I got to take lots of photos, so everyone was happy!  Oh, and just for the record, this series of photos pretty much covers what he ate – still not really a dent in the biggest lollipop ever!

A few of my favourites…

We’ll we’re off next week for a much needed holiday down to my favourite part of New Zealand – Central Otago. No internet access for a week, so no excuse not to take lots of photos! Hopefully I’ll have some to share with you when I get back.

In the meantime, thank you for everyone’s comments so far on my new blog – they are much appreciated! And I’m glad you like it!

Welcome to my new blogsite!

A couple of months ago, I decided it was time for a change: time for a new ‘look’, a new brand, a new logo, and a completely new blog! This has all been prompted by my decision to take my photographic journey to the next stage and really start to fully develop my professional portfolio. I wanted something new and fresh to mark this move for me, and I wanted the overall feel to be a reflection of me. I love minimalism and simplicity, and I’m not much of a colour girl – white and grey are my favourites (the colour scheme for our whole house).

So, it’s taken a few weeks of hard work with some long hours spent at nights on the computer, but it’s finally here, my new blogsite! (And there’s even a splash of blue – hubby takes the credit for the final colour choice!). And yes, it’s a cross between a blog and a website – this is it; there’s only one site, everything you need to know in one place.  If you’ve visited my site in the past, you won’t notice too many changes other than the overall look. You’ll still read all about what our family has been up to, watching our wee munchkin growing up, plus see lots of those sneak-peeks from other sessions I do. You can also find out all about booking a session with me, and you can look through my developing portfolio of images. I’m also hoping to move my private client viewing galleries to this site in the near future, so that should make it easier for everyone!

Now, it is looking rather empty in here at the moment, but not for too long, and in the meantime you can still go back and read through all the posts from my old blog by clicking HERE. And of course, now my camera can take priority again – instead of the computer!  So it’s time for you to get that session booked – spring is coming (and believe it or not it’s nearly time to think about those Christmas sessions!)  Please let me know if you’re interested in having some photos taken – I am developing my portfolio in all areas, so have some special session deals in return for the signing of a Model Release Form (in order to allow me to use the photos from your session in my portfolio.) Just fill in the Contact form (from the menu above) or email me if you’d like to find out more information!

Anyway, I couldn’t let my first post go by without a photo! This and a few other things led me to this shoot: We are in the middle of a cold and unusually wet winter, so there hasn’t been many days for taking photos outside (without feeling miserable!); I haven’t actually done a full studio set up in my new home studio since we moved in, which I’ve been wanting to do for weeks now; and finally, I always love photographing our wee boy and I don’t need an excuse to do that – although, at 3, he seems to have a few! So here’s a couple of quick snaps of Hayden, with some more to come soon.

In the meantime, please please please (!) leave me a comment – I’d love to know what you think of my new look!
